The purpose of this research is to determine what construction management programs in the United States are doing in regard to using/introducing mobile technology in their curricula. The objectives of this research are to determine how Associated Schools of Construction and American Council for Construction Education schools (1) use mobile devices, (2) what courses/subjects mobile technologies are used in, (3) what apps they use, (4) whether their IT departments support mobile devices, and (5) reasons schools do not use mobile technologies, e.g., cost, applicability, technology support.
The main research methodology is a survey sent to 150 ASC and ACCE schools to determine how they are using and introducing mobile technology in their programs. Drawing both quantitative and qualitative data from the survey, the results will be analyzed to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on the results.
The study in currently underway and will be completed prior to the full paper submission deadline. This research will provide a better understanding of how mobile technology is being implemented in construction management programs. The results of the survey will enable us to provide recommendations on how mobile technology should be introduced and used in current construction management curriculums.
