About This Course

This course is designed to engage students in an exploration of career development and its importance to mental health. The relationship between an individual and their work/career is explored in the context of vocational theories and decision-making models. The course includes an introduction to assessment tools and techniques commonly used in career counseling. Attention is given to the interrelationships and influence of family, gender, lifespan, and diversity in career development and to the application of theory to practice. Students also reflect on their own personal and professional career development.
