About This Course

This course covers a combination of theoretical and DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) approaches to assessing sexual health and wellness in a clinical context. The strengths and limitations of different assessment strategies will be covered. Course content includes an overview of various measures and instruments used, including individual and relational inventories. The course will also teach an approach to treatment planning for sex therapy. This course addresses select requirements aligned with American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT) certification, including Sex Therapy Training areas B, D and E or Core Knowledge Area I. Completion of this course does not guarantee AASECT certification.
