This minor equips you with the industry insight and business skills you need to succeed in the facility management field. It provides valuable course work that can complement your major and enhance your résumé.
Please note: The Facility Management Minor will be shifting to a cohort model with the next admission cycle beginning fall 2020. You are still free to meet with an advisor and start planning your minor course sequence, but please be aware that some FM coursework will only be available in certain semesters.
The Facility Management minor is available to any student currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at the University of Minnesota.
To apply to the program, you need to have earned:

|Facility Asset Management, Finance, and Budgeting (ABUS 4211)||2||CMGT 3024W; ACCT 2050 or ABUS 4101 or basic accounting/finance experience recommended|
|Fundamentals of Facility Management (ABUS 4213)||3||CMGT 3024W; CMGT 4542* or 4562* (concurrent registration allowed)|

*CMGT 4542 Building Energy Systems (3 cr) and CMGT 4562 Building Envelope Design & Construction (2 cr) will help you be successful in several courses. These credits will not count toward the required 19 credits. Other recommended courses include CMGT 4011 Construction Documents and Contracts; CMGT 3011 Construction Plan Reading; and CMGT 4031 Construction Safety and Loss Control.
