Healthcare Management Faculty Director Frances Fernández, was recently invited to join the MN Department of Health's Minnesota e-Health Artificial Intelligence (AI) Work Group, the purpose of which is to build a deep understanding of the considerations, opportunities, and risks for AI in the healthcare continuum.
The Group will serve as a forum to identify AI health-related activities, workforce training opportunities, partners and collaborations, and resources to create consensus on next steps for the Minnesota e-Health Initiative’s pursuit of safe, ethical, trustworthy, and effective use of AI across the care continuum.
Representing higher education and the University of Minnesota’s tradition of innovation as Minnesota’s healthcare leader, Fernández is excited about the opportunity for professional development and looks forward to continuing her role in shaping Minnesota’s healthcare ecosystem.
"As part of this group, I hope to contribute to building frameworks that prioritize equity, cultural humility, and patient-centered care in AI adoption, and use what I learn to enhance the Healthcare Management program and mentor the next generation of healthcare leaders. Our goal is to ensure that as we embrace new technologies, we do so in ways that strengthen trust, reduce disparities, and create a healthcare system that truly serves all communities."
