About This Course
This course bridges the gap between high-level governance and hands-on technical validation by focusing on the design, implementation, and evaluation of cybersecurity controls within real-world environments. Students translate regulatory requirements into prioritized security objectives, managing roles, accountability, and third-party risk while developing improvement roadmaps and communicating complex trade-offs to stakeholders. On the technical side, the curriculum covers deploying configuration standards and access controls across systems, networks, and cloud platforms. Students validate these defenses by analyzing vulnerability scans, telemetry, and system logs to identify performance gaps. By defining security metrics and evaluating incident readiness through tabletop exercises, learners transform technical findings into actionable remediation strategies that strengthen an organization's overall security posture.
Prereq: INET 4007. Students must be admitted to the IT Infrastructure major, minor or certificate and be pursuing the Cybersecurity and Governance subplan.
