The Graduate Minor in Arts and Cultural Leadership provides in-demand expertise and a valuable credential that can complement your UMN master’s degree.
Admission
The Graduate Minor in Arts and Cultural Leadership (ACL) is available to any master’s student currently enrolled in a graduate degree program at the University of Minnesota. A minimum 2.8 GPA is required.
How to Declare the Minor
Declaring the Arts and Cultural Leadership Minor can easily be done electronically.
- Sign in to MyU.
- Go to onestop.umn.edu.
- At the top of the page, click on "Academics," then select “Grad and Professional Students.”
- Choose “Add or Remove a Graduate Minor” from the list.
- Click on the “Graduate Minor Request” form. (This will launch the form. Your name and primary degree program information will auto-fill on the form.)
- Go to the section "Add a Minor" and type in the field "Arts and Cultural Leadership."
- After you submit the form, please send an email to [email protected] to indicate you’ve initiated the Minor Request.

To earn the ACL minor, choose 6 credits (two courses) from the list below and earn a B- or better. Each of the courses below is 3 credits.

- ACL 5221 – Creative Entrepreneurship and Resource Development
- ACL 5231 – Ethical Dilemmas and Legal Issues for Cultural Leaders
- ACL 6201 – Reimagining Cultural Leadership
- ACL 5241 – Financial Management for Arts Nonprofits, Community Organizations, and Artists
- ACL 5251 – Courageous Imagination in Action: Art and Culture as Forces and Resources of Change
- ACL 5261 – Culture, Place, and Community: Ways of Living Together in the 21st Century
