Admission Requirements
We strive to be fair in the admissions process. Our program thrives when we have students from different backgrounds and cultural experiences. The admissions committee completes a holistic review of all required application materials to ensure that you will be successful in the program. We do not require standardized test scores from the Graduate Record Exam (GRE).
We welcome applications from students who have:
- a demonstrated commitment to the field of long-term care through previous study, work, volunteer service, professional organizational involvement, etc.
- a bachelor's degree from an accredited post-secondary US institution, or its international equivalent.
- an undergraduate GPA of 3.0*.

What is long-term care?
Long-term care refers to a range of medical and non-medical services that help people with chronic illnesses or disabilities perform their daily activities. These can be provided at home, in assisted living facilities, or in nursing homes.
What is the difference between a long-term care facility and a nursing home?
A long-term care facility is a general term for a place that provides assistance for a person’s daily needs, like bathing, dressing, and medication maintenance. A nursing home is a type of long-term care facility that provides more intense medical support and employs more medically trained staff.
What is a professional degree?
A professional degree like the LTC Leadership focuses on meaningful career development for individuals seeking to advance their expertise in a particular field.
Does the LTC Leadership program provide funding to students?
CCAPS graduate programs do not provide living stipends, research assistantships, or teaching assistantships, however there are other options to help you pay for college. Visit the Financing Your Education section of the application instructions.
International students: Are not eligible for federal financial aid or CCAPS scholarships and must show financial evidence showing that they can cover tuition, living expenses, and the Student Health Benefit plan health insurance during their period of study. Are students in the LTC Leadership program eligible for financial aid?
Yes, LTC Leadership is a master’s degree program, and therefore admitted students are eligible for federal financial aid.
Can I complete the long term care master's online?
Yes! You can complete this program completely online. It does not require an in-person internship or practicum.
How long does it take to complete this degree?
Students need to complete 30 credits within 5 years in order to graduate. If you take 9 credits per semester, you could complete the degree in 15 months (4 terms). How fast you complete the degree depends on many factors. If you attend part-time and register for one course per semester (3-4 credits), for example, it may take you 3 years to complete.

Will I be able to transfer coursework into the LTC Leadership program?
Admitted students may be allowed to transfer up to 10 credits of previous graduate-level coursework. See Transferring Credits section of the application instructions.
How many credits should I take in a term?
The ideal number of credits to take per term depends on your unique circumstances, like work demands, family responsibilities, other commitments and the difficulty of your coursework. Students aiming for full-time completion of the degree in 15 months typically take 9 credits per term, while choosing a part-time load of 3 or 6 credits per term will extend the program completion time to approximately 3 years.
