Amanda Barnett: Welcome, Gophers! We’re so glad you’re here. At the College of Continuing and Professional Studies, we are truly learner-focused.
As a CCAPS graduate student, you’ll have access to a team of individuals dedicated to your success and well-being.
First, you’ll have your Program Advisor, who is typically your main point of contact. They’ll help you with academic advising, program requirements, career and internship opportunities, campus resources, and any other concern you may have.
Fiyyaz Karim: Your specific major is also guided by a Director of Graduate Studies, who oversees the content of the entire degree. Alongside the rest of the CCAPS grad team, the DGS can advise you in regards to the degree requirements and act as a liaison among you, faculty, and College leadership.
Sarah Cook: In addition to your Program Advisor and Director of Graduate Studies, you’ll be supported by the whole CCAPS Graduate Education Student Services Team. Like your Graduate Program Coordinators, or GPCs, GPCs coordinate advising efforts with the program advisors and directors of graduate studies. GPCs can help you navigate program, College, or University policies and procedures. They’ll also make sure you graduate on time.
Fiyyaz Karim: Depending on your major, you may be taught by professors from a variety of different colleges, so you’ll have access to faculty from across the University of Minnesota. Even in online courses, professors are accessible, approachable, and eager to help.
Fiyyaz Karim: In addition, and this may be the most important part, you’ll have your College peers—a community of learners who are as committed to making the world a better place as you are.
During your program, and even after you graduate, we can provide career guidance, networking, and mentoring opportunities.
Amanda Barnett: All of us at CCAPS want to make sure you get the most out of your time at the University.
Sarah Cook: We’re here to celebrate your accomplishments and support you through challenges.
Fiyyaz Karim: So please reach out to any one of us If you have any questions, concerns, or just want to chat. Welcome.
Amanda Barnett: Good luck.
Sarah Cook: And ski-u-mah!
