About This Course
This course provides information that facility managers will need to manage the ongoing operation and maintenance of building systems, as well as about the Facility Management Department. It is about understanding the operation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, critical spaces, fire/life safety systems, and utilities. Students will learn about different maintenance practices for specific external and interior building components as well as the technology and resources used to support the business of facility management.

David Franke has worked in various project, construction, real estate, and facilities management roles throughout his career. Since April of 2017, he has been working in the Hennepin County Facilities Services group overseeing capital projects. He spent 11 years as project tenant services director at Xcel Energy, 7 years as director of design at UnitedHealth Group, and 21 years at various positions in the facilities group at 3M/Imation.
