About This Course

This course will cover the building industries’ impact on the environment; sustainable building initiatives; environmental principles and practices throughout pre-con, construction, close-out and operations; impact on the construction manager’s role, procurement methods, contracts, estimating and scheduling, and team structure; adoption issues facing green construction; current technologies and future movements. Real-world knowledge will be applied through online lectures, online case studies, and online guest lectures.

Sample course topics: Architecture, LEED, net zero energy, integrated project delivery, field practices and processes, and the future of sustainability.

Debra Becker is the Americas Construction Industry Leader for Honeywell Building Solutions (HBS) where she leads the strategic direction, business development, and sales for large construction projects. Prior to HBS, Debra was vice president for special projects at Adolfson & Peterson Construction. She serves on the board of the Continental Automated Buildings Association (CABA) and is vice chair of the Intelligent and Integrated Buildings Council. She is an associate member of the American Institute of Architects and board member of WomenVenture in Minnesota.
