About This Course
This course will cover the building industries’ impact on the environment; sustainable building initiatives; environmental principles and practices throughout pre-con, construction, close-out and operations; impact on the construction manager’s role, procurement methods, contracts, estimating and scheduling, and team structure; adoption issues facing green construction; current technologies and future movements. Real-world knowledge will be applied through online lectures, online case studies, and online guest lectures.

Kevin is the sustainability director for the Advanced Facilities Group at JE Dunn Construction. He focuses on helping ambitious construction projects achieve their sustainability goals in utility, water and waste reduction, alternative fuels and low-embodied-carbon material selection. He has held sustainability leadership positions at another construction firm; the City of Rochester, MN; Colby College; and Harvard University. He has taught sustainability and training programs throughout his career, including at Harvard University, Boston Architectural College and Colby College. He has also given a range of community and public-facing presentations. Teaching is one of the more fulfilling tasks he has done in his career.
