Crystal grew up in central Minnesota, and she earned a BA in English from the University of St. Thomas and an MA in TESOL from the University of Minnesota. She worked with students in MELP from 2012 to 2019 before moving abroad to teach in Japan and Germany. She moved back to Minnesota in 2026, and she's excited to work with MELP students again. She also works as a substitute teacher in schools in the Twin Cities and adult learning centers. Over the years, Crystal has dabbled in learning Spanish, German, Arabic and Japanese. When not teaching, she enjoys crocheting, running and playing soccer with her son.
