Why Study Human Sexuality?

Sexuality education will simply enrich your scope of professional care. Human sexuality courses can benefit professionals in health care, social sciences, law, education, and research.

The certificate, offered in partnership with the University of Minnesota Medical School, is:

  • Applicable. You'll be able to knowledgeably speak to your clients and patients about their sexuality as it relates to their overall health.
  • Accessible. All four courses are offered completely online.
  • Relevant. Sexuality education will qualify you to work in several settings.
  • Practical. Coursework can apply toward fulfillment of AASECT Sexuality Educator certification.

Who Should Take Sexuality Courses?

Sexuality studies touches many fields. The Human Sexuality Certificate would be perfect for:

  • those who work in the field of human sexuality and sexual health (physicians, nurses, social workers, sexuality educators);
  • graduate students who cannot find human sexuality courses at their home university;
  • professionals in the sexuality field in human development, law, human rights, women’s studies and reproductive health, and related areas
  • international students

"If you are curious about the broader implications of human sexuality, it will serve you so well to work toward the HSEX Certificate. I think the most enriching part of the certificate program are the discussions between students and the professor in every course."
