CCAPS Scholarship Awards
Construction Management students have access to a number of scholarship opportunities administered at college level by the CCAPS Scholarship Committee. Awards are approved by the committee three times each year, in fall, spring, and summer.
Construction Management students have four sources of tuition support at the University of Minnesota:
- U-wide scholarships and financial aid (including federal and state aid), a subset of which are “cooperative” scholarships that support students in two or more colleges
- College of Continuing and Professional Studies scholarships
- Construction Management-only CCAPS scholarships
- Scholarships administered by industry associations

Fundraising Academic Year 2023–24/FY 2024
July 1, 2023–June 30, 2024
The University of Minnesota College of Continuing and Professional Studies Construction Management Program received a total of $15,521.96 in charitable gifts during FY 2024. A few highlights:
Pura Vida Winter Social: Tuesday, February 6, 2024
The Pura Vida Winter Social was held in the President’s Room of Coffman Memorial Union, serving as a platform to celebrate the experiences and accomplishments of the most recent, January 2024 Pura Vida Study Abroad attendees. It was also an opportunity to bring students, alumni, and advisory board members together to hear the impact of the trip and spend time expanding their professional networks. Tied to this event, there was a We ❤ Pura Vida crowdfunding campaign for Valentine’s Day for event attendees who were not students to support next year’s study abroad experience. We raised $250 from the crowdfunding campaign.
Celebrating 25 Years of Construction Management Alumni: Wednesday, May 22, 2024
The Celebrating 25 Years of Construction Management Alumni was held at the Lindahl Founders Room at Northrop. The event was originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 30th, but due to building closures on-campus, we had to reschedule the event. The event was intended to be festive and commemorative - bringing advisory board members, staff, faculty, alumni, and recent May 2024 graduates together.
The event had formal remarks from Dean Stine, Peter Hilger, Paul Kolias (advisory board chair), and Bill Scherling (one of the first CMGT graduates in 1999). As a part of the registration page, we shared that the event was free to attend, but there was an option to make a gift to the Hard Hat Challenge. We raised $1,662 from the optional registration donations, directed to the Hard Hat Challenge from 23 donors.
Hard Hat Challenge
In spring 2024, we invited our alumni to give to the Hard Hat Challenge, to support the Construction and Facilities Management Scholarship fund. A total of $4,068 was raised by 32 donors, primarily alumni of the program, to support students for fall 2024, via the online crowdfunding campaign. Cumulatively, including the optional event registration donations, we raised $5,780 from 57 donors. Counting a matching gift from Peter Hilger, we raised a total of $8,280.
