About This Course

This course is designed for advanced students in counseling and related programs that prepare them for licensure in a mental health field (LPCC, LMFT, LICSW, LP, etc.). The course provides learners with training in an evidence-based trauma treatment modality that rotates based on instructor expertise and availability. The first part of the course prepares future clinicians for the realities of witnessing and working with traumatized populations and emphasizes strategies that prioritize clinician resilience. The experiential modality training involves demonstration, hands-on role-play and evaluation of clinical skills. Students will leave the course ready to apply the treatment modality with clients who are experiencing trauma symptoms. Next steps for clinical supervision and certification in the treatment modality beyond the course will be clearly outlined.
