About This Course

This course provides a foundational understanding of human resource management within healthcare organizations. Topics include workforce planning, talent acquisition, compensation and benefits, workforce equity and inclusion, and performance management. Students will explore strategies for building and motivating an engaged healthcare workforce while navigating key legal and regulatory principles for inclusive excellence. Emphasis is placed on aligning human capital management with organizational objectives to enhance operational effectiveness and patient care outcomes.

Donald (Don) Moschkau is a human resources strategy system executive with Fairview Health Services, where he leads the Human Resources Strategy and Operations areas. He serves as a consultant to other executives throughout the organization on strategic initiatives and the impacts or drivers of the organization’s human capital. He has more than 20 years’ experience in human resources and specializes in strategic human resources, employee relations, employment law, diversity, recruitment, and onboarding as well as human resources regulatory compliance in the healthcare market. Don’s certifications include an SPHR from the Human Resources Certification Institute and an SHRM-SCP and Green Belt from the Society for Human Resources Professionals.

Eric Scott serves as clinical operations director at the Masonic Cancer Clinic, the primary hub for cancer care within the M Health Fairview system. In this role, he provides strategic leadership over clinic operations, referral access, performance improvement, and service line quality and safety initiatives. His work supports the delivery of integrated patient-centered care within a dynamic academic health system. His professional focus includes building high-performing teams, leading process innovation, and strengthening care models that support value, coordination, and long-term sustainability. He is deeply committed to mentoring future healthcare leaders and creating meaningful connections between academic theory and operational practice.
