About This Course

This course provides knowledge and skills in the organizational and managerial aspects of healthcare administration. This writing intensive course provides applications of behavioral and organizational theory to healthcare settings with topics including: organization models, supervision, employee evaluation, problem solving, productivity management, group leadership, and case studies. The course will provide students with management-level communication skills to develop a thoughtful and reflective understanding of the writing (and rewriting) process for effective healthcare leadership.

William O. (Bill) Kenney is chief executive officer of Dermatology Consultants. Previously, he served as president of the Phillips Eye Institute for Allina Health and later as the VP of operations for the United Hospital Cardiovascular Service Line. He has served as a clinical social worker at United Hospital, focusing on oncology, psychiatry, endocrinology, and geriatrics. Later he served at HealthEast and Park Nicollet Health Services, Northwestern University and Medical Faculty Foundation, and Presbyterian Hospital. Bill has expertise in clinic, hospital, and long-term operations, and his experience in healthcare leadership includes administrative responsibility in cardiovascular services, ophthalmology, senior services, dermatology, and primary care operations.

Eric Scott serves as clinical operations director at the Masonic Cancer Clinic, the primary hub for cancer care within the M Health Fairview system. His work supports the delivery of integrated patient-centered care within a dynamic academic health system. His professional focus includes building high-performing teams, leading process innovation, and strengthening care models that support value, coordination, and long-term sustainability. He is deeply committed to mentoring future healthcare leaders and creating meaningful connections between academic theory and operational practice.
