About This Course

This course offers a hands-on, practical approach to evidence-based project and program management within healthcare organizations. It provides a comprehensive examination of healthcare projects, the dynamics of project teams, and emerging trends that impact the field. Students will engage with various project management methodologies and applications while also developing essential leadership, facilitation, and team collaboration skills. Through case studies, real-world examples, discussions, and academic readings, students will gain insight into the strategies and frameworks utilized by professional healthcare project managers. By the conclusion of this course, students will have acquired experience in the key phases of project management, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure, preparing them to effectively manage healthcare projects.

Ms. Jacoby is currently senior director of IT for the medical device division at Abbott (a healthcare product provider in Saint Paul). She has also worked at EMC, Digineer, and Fairview Health Services. Before that she was with PricewaterhouseCoopers for 20 years, the last 10 as the partner responsible for IT business consulting and advisor to the Women’s Leadership Group. Each of her positions has focused on healthcare and the coordination and collaboration between IT and business functions. Ms. Jacoby cofounded Women Leading in Technology (WLiT) and works with the Women’s Health Leadership Trust in Minnesota.

Scott Lee-Eichenwald

Scott Lee-Eichenwald has diverse professional experience in social sciences and medical technology, with over 20+ years with medical devices companies including Guidant, Boston Scientific, Medtronic, and Smiths Medical. He also has experience providing enterprise interoperability software solutions for Infor's healthcare division. He has managed research and development and many global technology implementation projects. In addition, he has been teaching online for 15+ years. He is published in "Healthcare Information Technology" and received his Six Sigma Green Belt certification from the University of Saint Thomas in 2012. Scott holds an Information Systems Security Certificate from Colorado Technical University.
