Where: Moon Palace Books, 3032 Minnehaha Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55406
ACL and CIVE students are invited to a joint event at Moon Palace Books, co-hosted with Pangea World Theater. Together, we will get an up-close look at how combining the creativity of artists with the efforts of community activists, local businesses, and nonprofits is rebuilding a neighborhood after the devastating events that followed the murder of George Floyd in 2020.
Civic engagement is in the DNA of the Pangea World Theater while creativity and the love of a culturally diverse community are in the hearts of residents of South Minneapolis’ Longfellow Neighborhood.
On Indigenous People’s Day, we will honor the Dakota People and this long-contested land, reflecting on centuries of both trauma and joy in this place, with an eye to how we can build more equitable and joyful futures.
Networking and refreshments will begin at 4:30 and the program will start at 5:00. The program includes a brief walking tour, so dress (or prepare) for the weather.
ACL and CIVE students will receive an invitation email from Tom Borrup, ACL and CIVE Director of Graduate Studies. Please RSVP by Monday, September 30.
