My name is Colin Miller, and I’m the faculty director for the Information Technology Infrastructure undergraduate program at the University of Minnesota’s College of Continuing and Professional Studies.

The Information Technology Infrastructure  program stands out as an industry-driven education, designed to prepare students for the fast-evolving IT landscape.

Offering a Bachelor of Applied Science, a minor, and certificate programs, ITI provides a holistic approach that combines the technical and business aspects of IT.

Our thoughtfully-designed curriculum integrates technical expertise, practical learning, and the Writing-Enriched Curriculum or WEC to enhance communication skills, ensuring graduates are equipped to thrive in multidisciplinary teams.

Our program is taught by industry experts who bring real-world experience to the classroom. This connection gives students invaluable insights into what’s happening in IT today, from foundational knowledge to the latest trends.

With five specialized subplans, students can tailor their education to align with their career goals. The specialized subplans are:

  • Applied Data Science

  • Cybersecurity and Governance

  • Development, Security, and Operations, and IT Project Management

  • Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence

  • Network and Cloud Infrastructure

  • We also offer a self-designed subplan.

As faculty director, I am committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all students. We equip our students with technical expertise, business acumen, and soft skills such as communications, problem-solving, and adaptability. Our students benefit from personalized guidance, such as one-on-one support from our academic advisors. Scott Coenen, the director of undergraduate advising, will explain.

Hello! I’m Scott Coenen, director of Undergraduate Advising at CCAPS.

Our advisors are here to help answer your questions about program requirements, resources on campus, or even student engagement opportunities. They are here to help students in any way they can. Your ITI advisor will meet one-on-one with you and regularly connect you with Career and Internship Services.

Did you know that many of the ITI undergraduates land jobs before they even graduate?

Our alumni have gotten positions ranging from software engineer to business development manager, and more than 90 percent of those students report that they’re satisfied with their job, too. It should come as no surprise that according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, there's faster-than-average growth in the job market for folks pursuing careers in the information technology sector.

So now is a great time to pursue a career in IT! To get started, contact our enrollment advisor, Jeff Olsen Krengel. Jeff, over to you!

Hi, I’m Jeff Olsen Krengel, the enrollment advisor for the ITI program. I work with students who are interested in transferring into the ITI major and answer questions about the program, the admission requirements, and the transfer process.

I can review student transcripts to determine what credits will transfer and how they’ll transfer.

I’ll also make class recommendations for students and even help them with the application process.

I look forward to helping you with your educational goals.

So, let’s connect!
