Introduction to Grant Writing

This course will provide you with the tools needed to find, research, and write proposals for grants offered by government and private entities. As a Writing Intensive course, this class will spend significant time focusing on the writing process. Students will gain an understanding of various sections of the proposal by drafting, editing, seeking feedback, and revising a needs assessment, goal statement, budget justification, and statement of organizational purpose. Students will be expected to act in each of the roles expected of grant writers in the field: researcher, lead writer, and editor. In addition, students will be instructed in the general style, tone, and organizational logic of grant writing.
