Tom Hegblom

Tom Hegblom serves as the Director of Graduate Studies for the counselor education programs at CCAPS, including the Master of Professional Studies (MPS) programs in Addictions Counseling, Integrated Behavioral Health and Sex Therapy, as well as the Trauma Informed Care Graduate Certificate. His teaching, supervision and research interests focus on culture and human diversity, with particular emphasis on queer- and trans-affirming mental health care, ethics in counseling practice, and the development of counseling student self-efficacy.

In addition to his work at the University of Minnesota, Tom maintains a private psychotherapy practice and is actively involved in state, regional and national professional organizations. He holds a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision and a master's degree in Co-Occurring Disorders Counseling. Tom is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) in Minnesota.
