Congratulations on reaching the end of the Fall ‘23 term! CCAPS Academic Technology and Design has a few updates to help ensure your online, blended, and face-to-face instructional success as you prepare to wrap courses and launch into Spring ‘24.

Important Reminders

  • Submitting Grades & IncompletesCourse grades for all students should be submitted by 12/29/23 @ 11:59 PM CST. For guidance on this process, explore the Final grade entry page on the Academic Support Resources site.
  • Student Rating of TeachingRemind your students to complete the Student Ratings of Teaching (SRTs) through Canvas. The SRT link can be located in your Course Navigation panel. Read more about the SRT Process on the Office of Measurement Services website.
  • Onboarding Course: CCAPS ATD offers a short course that includes an overview of Canvas and information on grading, communicating, and guiding your students throughout the semester as well as access to just-in-time instructional resources. While intended for new instructors, any instructor wishing to refresh their knowledge is welcome to self-enroll to join the Teaching Online for CCAPS Spring ‘24 Cohort. The course runs from January 8-26, 2024.

Teaching Tips

  • Closing Videos: Whether your course is blended, online, or face-to-face, a closing video that summarizes the instructor’s view of the course’s successes, key takeaways, and items for further exploration is a great way to end your work with your students. Canvas allows you to easily Record a Presentation with Kaltura Capture to post it as an Announcement in the final week of class!
  • The Global Programs and Strategy Alliance: Internationalizing the Curriculum and Campus through the Global Programs and Strategies Alliance is offering a series of workshops and a certificate program that supports teaching enrichment and promotes inclusion of global, international, and intercultural elements into course design. Participating instructors will be introduced to high-impact interactive teaching activities, strategies, and approaches that can be easily integrated into curriculum and lesson plans.
  • Utilizing Rubrics to Support Student Learning: Missed this semester’s ATD Faculty Presentation? Check out our Faculty Presentation 2023: Rubrics for a quick discussion about how rubrics will provide student feedback on both formative and summative assignments.

ATD Highlight

Canvas Course Due Dates: You can support students' success by using the due dates feature in Canvas.. Using Canvas due dates for all course learning activities - such as readings, discussions, lab reports, presentations, and exams - supports students as they plan to meet deadlines across their many courses. Students in focus groups say they rely on Canvas due dates to prioritize their course workloads because activities with due dates populate students’ To-Do list and the course calendar. Explore strategies for using Canvas due dates to support student success..
