Hi, I'm Jeff Olsen Krengel, an advisor here in the College of Continuing and Professional Studies, and I'd like to talk to you about one of our individualized degree programs, the Multidisciplinary Studies Degree.

The MDS degree is an undergraduate program for students who have already earned some college credits and want to complete a bachelor's degree. Some MDS students are returning to college after a break or haven't been able to find a major that meets their interests or want the freedom to design their own major. In the MDS major, you'll select three of five broad areas of study to focus on: Applied, Technical, and Professional; Arts and Humanities; Communication; History and Social Science; and Science and Health Science.

We know returning to college can be daunting, so you won't be on your own. Our academic advisors can provide the guidance you need to reach your goals, from reviewing your past credits to helping you choose the right courses. You'll map out your degree plan and goals in an online course with the close help of your instructor and fellow students. In fact, you'll have a team of CCAPS folks on your side: an academic advisor, a career resources expert, and a financial aid counselor. Plus, you'll have access to all the resources the University has to offer, like help with academic skills, mental health services, veterans services, disability resources, technology assistance, support for students with children, tutoring, and much more.

We know the University of Minnesota is a big place, but CCAPS is a community, and we're committed to providing a quality education and welcoming experience for everyone. So if you're interested in learning more about the Multidisciplinary Studies major, connect with me to start the conversation. I look forward to working with you.
