Explore Our Programs in Addictions Counseling or Integrated Behavioral Health

If you have a desire to be an agent of change, serving on the front lines of the prevention and treatment of substance abuse disorders, consider one of the University of Minnesota's addiction studies-related programs.

Master of Professional Studies in Addictions Counseling

Recent developments in neuroscience, pharmacotherapy, and clinical practice have greatly expanded the research in addictions counseling. The ADDC is a rigorous, applied clinical program that provides the up-to-date instruction and skills needed for a successful career in this evolving field. It is suitable for individuals both new to the profession and those with an allied license (MSW, LP, LPC, LMFT) seeking to acquire the LADC.

Master of Professional Studies in Integrated Behavioral Health

The IBH merges mental health and substance abuse education and training into a single, comprehensive program to prepare counselors to treat clients suffering from not one but two or more disorders. This synthesis represents an important and pioneering shift in the preparation of clinicians. The degree is designed to fulfill education and training requirements for two licenses: the Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC).
