Congratulations to Colin Miller, faculty director of the Information Technology Infrastructure (ITI) program, on being named one of six recipients of the 2026 Career Champion Award from University of Minnesota Career & Internship Services.
The annual, student-nominated award recognizes faculty and staff who help students build confidence and prepare for their careers through mentorship, guidance and support. The nominating student, who prefers to remain anonymous, described how Miller's coaching shaped their academic and professional development:
“Professor Miller … consistently invested in my growth by helping me navigate my career path in tech, understand the importance of networking, and develop strategies to stand out in competitive environments. His guidance on interview preparation, professional presentation, and pursuing opportunities outside the classroom gave me confidence and direction during a time when I was still exploring my future. … Because of his mentorship, I feel more prepared, motivated, and intentional about my goals. His support has extended far beyond the classroom, shaping not only my career readiness but also my belief in what I can achieve.”
For Miller, what means the most is “knowing that a student felt supported, encouraged and more prepared for a career in tech because of the work we do in the ITI program. Seeing students move from uncertainty to purpose is always rewarding.”
