The Awesome Women’s Book Club SIG is a book discussion group that reads books by and about women. Genres include fiction, nonfiction, and memoirs that are of current interest, as well as older titles that are suggested by the group members. The group as a whole chooses the final list of books for each year, and the person suggesting each book is usually the leader of the discussion. This group meets on the second Tuesday of February through November, 1:30–3 p.m. We meet in person in nice weather months and on Zoom in cold weather months. The discussion is usually lively. We learn from each other through our rich conversations.
Some of our selections in 2023 were The Alice Network by Kate Quinn, The Marriage Portrait by Maggie O’Farrell, The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry by Rachel Joyce, American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins, When Women Were Birds by Terry Tempest Williams, and Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall. The group was inspired by Braiding Sweetgrass to then visit the Minneapolis Institute of Art for their book tour relating works of art to this book.
The Awesome Women’s Book Club welcomes new members to join this SIG. Contact [email protected] if you are interested.
